The original Eisler Brothers store in Riverton was open and serving customers before Route 66 was commissioned, and continues to do so today.
Check-out the Route 66 Gift Shop, and dine on "hand-crafted" deli sandwiches and sodas that are iced-down in the old coke cooler.
Be sure to ask the boss, Scott Nelson, to sing "Get your Kicks" for you.
Empire District's Riverton Plant has provided electricity to the Joplin area
since the early 1900's and is located on 66 just south of the Eislers Store.
Many workers at the plant commuted to work on Route 66, including my Dad and Grandfather.
